Sunday Igboho hails N50m land donation, 10 motorcycles for Iru Ekun Security Network

Sunday Igboho has commended KSI Construction for donating N50m land and 10 motorcycles to strengthen Iru Ekun Security Network’s Abuja operations.

Yoruba Nation activist and founder of the Iru Ekun Security Network, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has expressed appreciation to KSI Construction Company Limited for donating a plot of land valued at N50 million to the security organisation in Abuja.

The property, according to the organisation, is expected to become the site of Iru Ekun’s Federal Capital Territory office, giving the group a permanent base for its activities and official engagements in the nation’s capital.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by Igboho’s media office on Thursday, in which the activist described the donation as a major show of support for community-based efforts aimed at addressing security challenges.

Beyond the land donation, KSI Construction Company was also said to have pledged 10 brand-new motorcycles to assist Iru Ekun’s operational activities.

The motorcycles are expected to be handed over during the proposed unveiling of the organisation’s Abuja office.

Igboho said the support from the construction company demonstrated the importance of partnerships between private organisations and groups involved in community security initiatives.

He noted that establishing an office in Abuja would further position Iru Ekun to engage relevant institutions and stakeholders on security-related matters while providing the organisation with a formal presence outside its Southwest operational environment.

The Iru Ekun founder also reaffirmed the group’s readiness to work with established security agencies in addressing criminal activities and protecting communities.

He specifically mentioned the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army and Department of State Services, DSS, among the agencies with which the organisation seeks to maintain cooperation.

According to him, the involvement of different stakeholders remains important in confronting insecurity, particularly in communities affected by kidnapping, banditry and other forms of criminality.

Igboho also acknowledged what he described as support from the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and governors across the Southwest in efforts to address security concerns in the region.

He said Iru Ekun would continue to appreciate assistance received from government institutions as well as private organisations and individuals who contribute to its activities.

Commenting on KSI Construction’s contribution, Igboho said the company had gone beyond financial support by providing infrastructure and operational equipment that could help the organisation improve its activities.

He said the donation of the land would provide the foundation for the establishment of an office through which the organisation could coordinate its Abuja activities.

Igboho said the planned motorcycle donation would also provide additional mobility for personnel involved in field operations.

He stated, “Apart from the backing and valuable support at the governmental level, I want to commend the management of KSI Construction Company Limited, Abuja, for gifting Iru Ekun a plot of land in the FCT.”

He added that the company had made arrangements to provide 10 new motorcycles during the proposed unveiling of the organisation in Abuja.

According to him, stronger participation by corporate organisations and private citizens could provide additional impetus to community security efforts and complement the work of conventional security agencies.

Meanwhile, the Group Managing Director of KSI Construction Company Limited, Dr. Koleola Emmanuel Oladeni, explained why the company decided to support Iru Ekun.

Oladeni said the decision was influenced by what the company observed as the security outfit’s activities across the Southwest since it began operations.

He claimed that there had been a noticeable decline in some security-related incidents in parts of the region, particularly cases involving kidnapping, banditry and other criminal activities.

The KSI executive attributed the development partly to the activities of Iru Ekun personnel, while stressing that their operations were carried out with the backing or collaboration of conventional security agencies.

He mentioned the Police, DSS and Nigerian Army among the institutions involved in security operations in the region.

Oladeni further claimed that criminal activities by suspected hoodlums had been significantly curtailed in some areas, with incidents involving abductions, attacks along major highways and violence affecting farming communities reportedly reduced.

He said these developments convinced the company that supporting the security organisation would be a worthwhile contribution to the protection of lives and property.

According to him, the decision to donate the Abuja property was therefore aimed at helping Iru Ekun establish a permanent administrative and operational base in the Federal Capital Territory.

Oladeni said the proposed office would provide the organisation with a location from which it could coordinate its engagements and activities in Abuja.

He said the company’s additional commitment to provide 10 motorcycles was also intended to improve the mobility of Iru Ekun personnel.

Oladeni said, “We noticed drastic reduction in worrisome cases of kidnapping, banditry and other crimes in Yorubaland. And this was because of Iru Ekun Security personnel’s operations backed by the Police, DSS, Nigerian Army and others.”

He added that the reported reduction in criminal activities informed the company’s decision to contribute towards the organisation’s expansion.

The KSI executive maintained that private citizens and corporate organisations should not remain indifferent when individuals or groups voluntarily commit themselves to activities aimed at improving public safety.

He described the company’s intervention as its own contribution towards encouraging such efforts.

“If they decide to volunteer themselves for the security of our nation, it behoves us at the corporate and individual levels to support and encourage them in any form,” Oladeni said.

He added that the company considered the donation a modest contribution towards strengthening security and improving the safety of communities.

The proposed Abuja office is expected to expand Iru Ekun’s presence in the Federal Capital Territory, while the donated motorcycles are expected to provide logistical support for its field activities.

The development also highlights the growing emphasis on collaboration between community-based security initiatives, conventional security agencies, government authorities and private-sector organisations in responding to security concerns.

However, the security claims contained in the statements from Igboho and Oladeni were presented by the respective parties and were not independently verified in the statement.
