The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced ₦7 million as the final fare for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage, while retaining August 25, 2026, as the deadline for intending pilgrims to complete their registration.
The announcement was made by the Board’s Director-General, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman A. Dederi.
The Board has urged prospective pilgrims who are yet to complete their registration to take immediate action, warning that failure to meet the deadline could affect their participation in the pilgrimage.
Kano Hajj Board warns over passport requirement
Matawalle specifically advised intending pilgrims who have not submitted their valid international passports to do so before the August 25 deadline.
He stressed that registration would not be considered complete where the required travel documentation remained outstanding.
According to the Director-General, the Board has no intention of extending the registration deadline. He therefore urged intending pilgrims and other stakeholders to comply strictly with the approved timeline.
The warning is aimed at preventing last-minute challenges and giving the Board enough time to complete the administrative and logistical preparations required for the pilgrimage.
Failure to submit passport May affect Hajj seat
The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board also warned registered intending pilgrims that failure to submit a valid international passport within the stipulated period could result in them not being allocated a Hajj seat.
Matawalle said: “Any registered intending pilgrim who fails to submit his or her valid international passport on or before 25 August 2026 may not be allocated a Hajj seat.”»
The Board consequently advised pilgrims with outstanding documentation to resolve the issue before the deadline rather than wait until the final day.
₦7m approved as Kano Hajj fare
With the final fare fixed at ₦7 million, intending pilgrims have been advised to make the necessary financial preparations ahead of the pilgrimage.
Matawalle called on prospective pilgrims to take note of the approved fare and ensure that they meet all relevant requirements within the stipulated period.
He explained that timely completion of registration formalities would help the Board finalise arrangements and coordinate the participation of Kano pilgrims more effectively.

He said preparations were ongoing to ensure a smooth and successful Hajj exercise, while appealing to stakeholders to cooperate with the Board throughout the registration and preparation process.
