Wilfred Ndidi Completes €8m Move to Besiktas from Leicester City

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has sealed a permanent transfer to Turkish giants Besiktas from Leicester City in a deal worth €8 million.

The Istanbul-based club confirmed the signing on its official website on Friday, announcing that Ndidi has signed a three-year contract with the option of a further year.

Medical and Arrival in Istanbul

The 28-year-old arrived in Istanbul earlier this week to undergo his medical, after which the club wasted no time in finalising the deal. Ndidi will link up with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the former Manchester United manager who took charge of Besiktas last season.

Busy Summer for Besiktas

Ndidi becomes the latest addition in what has been an active transfer window for the Turkish side. Last month, they secured the loan signing of Tammy Abraham from Roma, adding more experience and quality to their squad ahead of the new Süper Lig campaign and European commitments.

Leicester Legacy

Ndidi joined Leicester City from Belgian side Genk in January 2017 and quickly established himself as one of the Premier League’s most reliable defensive midfielders. Over eight years at the King Power Stadium, he made 303 appearances, scoring 18 goals in all competitions.

He won the FA Cup and FA Community Shield with the Foxes in 2021 and played a key role in their Sky Bet Championship title triumph in 2023/24.

Super Eagles in Turkey

Ndidi is the latest Nigerian international to make the move to Turkey this summer. He joins Victor Osimhen and Paul Onuachu, who both completed permanent transfers to Galatasaray and Trabzonspor respectively this summer, adding to the growing contingent of Super Eagles stars in the Turkish top flight.
