Chelsea have reached an agreement on personal terms with Alejandro Garnacho, but remain locked in negotiations with Manchester United over a transfer fee, according to multiple reports.
The 21-year-old winger, who has made it clear he wants to leave Old Trafford this summer, is determined to stay in the Premier League and join a Champions League club — a stance that has placed Chelsea in pole position for his signature.

Breakdown with Amorim and United Exile
Garnacho’s desire to depart intensified following a high-profile fallout with United manager Ruben Amorim towards the end of last season. The Argentine was dropped from the matchday squad for United’s final fixtures and subsequently left out of the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.
Since then, he has been training away from the first team, maintaining fitness while awaiting a resolution to his future.

Fee Negotiations Remain Stalled
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that while Garnacho has agreed a long-term deal with Chelsea, the London club and United are yet to settle on a fee. United are demanding £50 million, having lowered their initial £70m asking price from the January transfer window, when Chelsea and Napoli both made enquiries.

Chelsea are reluctant to meet the full valuation, citing the player’s strained relationship with Amorim and his exclusion from the squad ahead of the new season as factors that weaken United’s negotiating position.
Garnacho’s current contract runs until 2028, giving United a strong hand in talks despite the player’s stance.
Chelsea’s Wider Transfer Plans
The Blues are also progressing in talks with RB Leipzig over Xavi Simons, with the 22-year-old midfielder reportedly agreeing personal terms on a move to Stamford Bridge. Leipzig are holding out for €70 million (£61m) for the Netherlands international, who impressed for both club and Dutch national teams last season.

If the deal for Garnacho is completed, he would become one of Chelsea’s marquee summer signings and bolster Enzo Maresca’s attacking options as the club prepares for a return to Europe’s top competition.
